Living in an European Country it seems so normal that you can just open the tap water and drink it directly. In most parts of the world it is not save to drink tap water.

Before starting my round-the-world-trip and after some research, I found one bottle that fulfilled all my requirements to filter water safely. Removing bacteria’s, viruses, metals like lead and chlorine.

The water bottle is from Water-to-Go. It has a 3-in-1 filter system: mechanical, electrical and activated carbon filter. It is even possible to filter any non salt water from tap water to river water. One filter for a 750ml water bottle can filter 200l water and lasts about 3 months.

It filters 99,999% of water contaminants. Like Cholera, E. Coli, Hepatitis, Lead, Mercury, etc. It is real a survival bottle, also for long hikes or you don’t have access to bottled water for a longer time.

There are many other water filters out in the market, but most of them are lifestyle bottles that only enhance the water taste and smell. It is not guaranteed that you can drink it without getting sick. These bottles are useable in European countries if you have for example a lot of chlorine in the water. Check really carefully before purchasing a water bottle and it’s suitable usage.

My first experience with the water bottle was in Brazil in South America and it worked really well. The water tasted normal and I didn’t get sick. I used it further in Peru, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii and Australia without any problems. Until I forgot my bottle at the airport after a long flight. After that I needed to buy bottled water again until I got a new one. It was a real hassle for me to always check where to buy water and carry it to the hostel 😀 Also buying was more expensive than the water bottle filter (Bottle+Filter: 37€, Extra Filter:15€).

All in all, I can really recommend it purchasing the Water-to-Go water bottle.
