While wandering around Barcelona, most areas around the Sagrada de Familia are very crowded. All the way down along the shopping street La Rambla to the Barceloneta Beach. Tourists taking photos, shopping and sitting outside restaurants. No locals are wandering around in these areas.

On my way to Parc del Carmel, I walked through the neighborhood Gracia. It was surprising how calm and less crowded it was. The Mercat de l’Abaceria is also in the neighborhood and relaxing to walk through in comparison to the Mercat de la Boqueria.

No rush, no tourists, small cute shops at every corner.
Many public spaces every other street with benches, trees, some restaurants.

Walking instead of taking public transport can be lead to new spots and places you would have never explored.
