For everyone joy is defined differently.
Do you prefer spending time together? Do you prefer receiving gifts? Do you prefer adventurous experiences? Do you prefer traveling? Do you prefer the newest smartphone? Do you prefer the wellness treatment? Do you prefer money?
It is easy to project your own definition of joy on the other person. Did you ever gifted a friend or loved one something you secretly wanted yourself? Were you disappointed that their joy was not the same as yours?
Every person is different. Acknowledging the differences can be difficult to understand sometimes. Country. Region. Culture. Generation. Socialization. History. Experiences.
Being thoughtful, making the gift about the other person can be the biggest joy for the other person.
